Whitten was born on September 16th at 12:07 PM, weighing 7 pounds, 6 ounces. Proud parents Alexis and Hayden Mann couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome their second child.
For Alexis, Whitten’s birth was extra special – she’s a nurse on the labor and delivery unit at Marshall North.
“Well, it was really an exciting time because I went into work at 7:00 AM and didn't realize I was in labor,” Alexis shared with a laugh. “Then I had a baby at 12:07 PM – so it was quite a day!”
What stood out most to Alexis wasn’t just the whirlwind of events but the care she and her family received.
“I take care of patients daily when they’re in such a vulnerable stage in their lives,” she said. “The best part was getting to experience firsthand the level of care we provide. It felt so personal because I work here, but I don’t feel like I was treated any more special than the patients we see every day – and that’s a good thing. Everyone was great – from the nurses, to the providers, to our lactation consultant – every single person went above and beyond.”
Alexis was cared for by Dr. Megan Zeien, who also delivered her first daughter four years ago.
“When I chose a provider, I wanted someone who was focused on the best possible outcome for me and my baby,” Alexis said. “Dr. Zeien really prioritizes a natural and comforting birth experience. My favorite part about this delivery was that she let me reach down, grab Whitten, and pull him straight to my chest for skin-to-skin contact. It was so special – I got to be a part of my own delivery.”
Alexis praised the entire team of providers at Marshall North – Dr. Zeien, Dr. Megehee, and Dr. Kiper.
“Dr. Megehee was just as involved throughout my pregnancy and even called to check if I had delivered yet. And Dr. Kiper, who just joined our team this month, is already providing the same level of personal care. I don’t think you could go wrong with any of our three providers. At Marshall North, you’re more than just a number – your needs and wants are truly heard.”
This is Alexis and Hayden’s second child, and big sister is already smitten.
“I think I was most nervous about their bond – how she would understand that we have this new baby now,” Alexis admitted. “But she has jumped in with all hands on deck. She thinks Whitten is her baby! She wants to hold him 24/7. I was worried about the 4-year age gap at first, but now I think it’s going to be perfect. I can’t wait to watch them grow up together.”
Congratulations to the Mann family on their beautiful new addition!
